CommonStage

The core of Commonwealth Shakespeare Company’s mission is making the arts more accessible. That’s why we created the CommonStage Initiative. The initiative extends our summer stay on the Boston Common and allows partner organizations to present work on our stage, expanding access to free arts programming that enhances the cultural landscape of Greater Boston.

CommonStage 2023:

Join Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción on Thursday, August 10, as they close their 2023 Tito Puente Latin Music Series on Boston Common with the live salsa music of Tito Puente Jr. and Edwin Pabón from 7 pm to 9 pm!

More About the CommonStage: Launched in 2022, Commonwealth Shakespeare Company’s CommonStage Initiative breaks barriers for organizations and patrons, bringing more FREE arts programming to the Boston Common and the Greater Boston area. Every summer, CSC erects a stage on the Boston Common that provides a performance space that’s open to all attendees, and the organization wanted to offer that opportunity to other arts and cultural organizations who want to provide their performance to all audiences. In 2022, CSC partnered with Boston Lyric Opera to present Romeo and Juliet, directed by CSC’s Founding Artistic Director Steven Maler. CSC also hosted Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción (IBA), bringing the finale of their beloved Tito Puente Latin Music Series to the Common.
