Neither a borrower nor a lender be; just give to keep this Shakespeare free!

There are many ways that you can help Commonwealth Shakespeare Company fulfill its mission to make Shakespeare accessible to all.

The CSC Fund

Contributions to the CSC Fund directly support the Company's programs, including Shakespeare on the Common and our annual partnership with the Boston Landmarks Orchestra as well as our education and outreach programs. Friends of CSC & Bard's Circle members are recognized with special benefits and exclusive access. To learn more about the CSC Fund or donate now, click here.

Special Projects and Programs

From time to time, CSC has special projects and programs that would benefit from direct support. Examples include grants from the Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Fund and National Endowment for the Arts that require matching funds.  For more information on CSC's current special projects and programs, please contact the CSC Development Office at 781.239.5975 or development@commshakes.org.

CSC Gala

Named “one of the top events in Boston” by BizBash Publications, CSC brings the same level of creativity and professionalism to the Gala as its productions on Boston Common. Guests are treated to interactive performances, innovative design, sumptuous food, and one of Boston’s best bands. This all adds up to one unforgettable evening! Proceeds support a different aspect of CSC's programming each year.

Gifts In-Kind

CSC gratefully accepts select gifts of services or personal property to support its administrative functions or to auction off at its annual Gala. CSC is currently interested in office equipment, frequent flyer miles, access to a vacation or Boston-area property, and items that may make a desirable auction package. Before making a gift, please contact the CSC Development Office at 781.239.5975 or development@commshakes.org.

Gifts of Stock

To make a gift of appreciated securities to CSC, please contact the Development Office at 781.239.5975 or development@commshakes.org to obtain transfer instructions.

A bequest is an easy, practical way to make a meaningful contribution to CSC without affecting your current finances. Through a bequest in your will or a provision in your living trust, you may name CSC as a beneficiary of a specific dollar amount or piece of property, a percentage of your estate, or part or all of what remains of the estate after other bequests are carried out.

An example of some simple bequest language is:

“I hereby bequeath [the sum of _______dollars ($) or ___ percent (%) of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate], to Commonwealth Shakespeare Company, a Massachusetts non-profit corporation, for its general purposes.”

Planned Gifts

Bequests and other planned gifts can help you realize your own philanthropic goals while ensuring CSC's future financial stability. The benefits of making a planned gift may range from a steady stream of life income to a charitable income tax deduction and lower capital gains, estate, and other taxes.

There are many types of planned giving assets and vehicles — charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts, gifts of real estate or tangible personal property, and gifts from retirement plans or life insurance policies — that can be tailored to your needs. For more information on how to make a planned gift to CSC or to inform us of your existing plans that name us as a beneficiary, please contact the Development Office at 781.239.5975 or development@commshakes.org. The information above is not intended as legal advice, and you should consult with your attorney before making a planned gift.
