Volunteer Opportunities

      Tuesday – Saturday performances at 8pm; Sundays at 7pm (Off Mondays). There will be one 3pm matinee performance on Saturday, August 5.

      We are proud to be a part of The Highland Street Foundation's Free Fun Friday Program! 
      Join us on Friday, August 4 from 6:30pm-7pm for a family-friendly demonstration on how actors safely create the illusion of realistic stage combat.  This session is appropriate for all ages.
       
      Parking: Parking is available in the Boston Common Garage.  Be sure to pick up a discount coupon from one of the CSC tents or from an usher to receive $1 off your parking.  These coupons are provided by the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA). CSC receives $2 from the MCCA each time a coupon is used.

Volunteer Opportunities

Title: FREE Shakespeare on the Common 2017 Volunteer

The Commonwealth Shakespeare Company is looking for volunteers for its 22nd season of FREE Shakespeare on the Common. This summer's production of Romeo and Juliet will be performed Wednesday, July 19th through Sunday, August 6th near the Parkman Bandstand on the Boston Common.

Volunteering for the show(s) requires arriving at the Common two hours before showtime; shows begin at 8pm Tuesdays through Saturdays, 7pm on Sundays, and 3pm for a matinee performance on Saturday, August 5th. Volunteer responsibilities include: passing out playbills, setting up and breaking down chairs and tents, selling merchandise, collecting surveys, cleaning up at the end of the night, and other duties assigned by the Front of House staff. Volunteer duties will conclude approximately three and a half hours after showtime. All volunteers are invited to view the production from the seated Friends section of the audience when not performing duties.

Title: Development Volunteer

Commonwealth Shakespeare Company (CSC) is seeking a volunteer who will be an integral part of the development team, which consists of a full-time Director of Development and full-time Development Associate.

Duties

  • Filing, data entry, and office organization
  • Assisting staff with fundraising appeal mailings
  • Assist with staffing events as needed
  • Other duties as assigned – can be catered to the volunteer’s interests


Qualifications

  • Professional and detail-oriented, with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to be calm and focused under pressure
  • Computer-savvy, with strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be at least 18 years of age


Time Commitment

  • Flexible, but must be during office hours (roughly 10am-5pm Monday-Friday)
